WKRN About To Lose Out

Terrible news from Brittney, who is resigning as blog hostess at Nashville Is Talking. She has been needlessly beaten and abused of late. I hope WKRN-TV realizes they need to rally to support her in a major way rather than allow her to be cut loose.

I respect her viewpoint and reasoning on wanting to go. The threats and hatred are frightening. Which again means to me the management at WKRN need to celebrate, elevate and embrace the enormous success her work has created. Like some others, I wonder if the new management at the station is pushing for her to go instead. Their loss. And a major one.

UPDATE: Fortunately, I do not think her voice could ever be silenced. In fact, she'll be getting a bit more kick ass at her own place, Sparkwood & 21.

  1. Their loss and ours.

I guess you were afraid to give any context to what happened because you knew it would make Brittney look bad. Here is what happened: Of all the hundreds of tributes to Steve Gilliard that appeared on the Internet after he died this week, she chose a vile, hateful and racist post to quote extensively and link to. When a number of people objected to this disgusting attack on someone who had just died and whose family was grieving, Brittney did not apologize or disassociate herself in any way. Then she wrote a snarky post making herself out to be some sort of victim, again without apologizing to this man’s family and friends. If it was your son or brother or friend who had been attacked like this I am sure you would be outraged as well. A simple apology or a statement that she did not agree with the sentiments in the post she linked to would have ended the controversy immediately. Instead, she quit and tried to portray herself as a victim, a martyr. The only honest thing she says in this post is that she contributed to hatred in the blogosphere and for her to cry about a situation that she is completely responsible for creating and could have stopped at any time is ridiculous. For you to then slander Steve’s friends and admirers as a “bunch of jerks” when their outrage was completely justifiable makes you almost as bad as she is.

  3. Anon -

nifty form post you made on this and several other blogs across the state who dared express appreciation for Brittney's work (though you added some name attached to yer form letter at those blogs).

sorry you missed out on the irony of Brit's style of writing. it must feel crummy to just not get it.

"For you to then slander Steve’s friends and admirers as a “bunch of jerks” when their outrage was completely justifiable makes you almost as bad as she is."

and look Anonymous bucko - those claims you made of language you said I used to slander Steve, or call his pals jerks do not exist in this post, or any other on this site, so put the cheese puffs and beer bong down, sober the fuck up and try reading for a change.

context exists in a previous post, dated June 5 of this week - i know that's only helpful if you can actually read and know what numbers and dates are.

sorry i did not respond to yer baseless diatribe sooner, but i was busy in the world of reality - you know, that place you've never been to.

In closing, P.J. O'Rourke once wrote it was wrong to ever pass up the chance to insult someone, and I think he's right, so:
Dear Chucklehead, go assfuck yourself with your elbow.
