Free Number Ones CDs for You!

A pause here today in the retelling of my great good fortunes of the last week to share some freebies with you. I've got some CDs to give away, part of a massive collection of music from Universal Music.

I've been listening to the Jazz Number Ones collection myself and it's fine stuff. Quincy Jones' "Killer Joe," Etta James' "At Last," Nina Simone's "I Put A Spell On You" are just some of the 17 tracks of jazz hits.

Here's what I have for you readers -- The Marvin Gaye Number Ones, The Temptations Number Ones, James Brown Number Ones and Diana Ross and the Supremes Number Ones. How can you get one of these must-have collections?

Just leave a comment on this post telling me which of the four you want and why you want it -- maybe it brings back great memories or maybe the music is something you are still discovering. Leave your entry before midnight on Thursday, May 10.

One entry per person and you must be at least 18 to enter. Be sure and include your email address in your comment, and I'll pick four lucky winners by this Friday, May 11 and post their names and then I'll send you the CD. Free.

One thing I like about this collection is that the CD package is made from recycled materials, and isn't a maze of plastic and stickers to untangle. Easy to open and earth-friendly!

The complete list of CDs in this collection can be explored here at Number Ones. Sample tracks and complete CD tracks are also listed. You can also choose ringtones and wallpaper from the collection too.

The collection includes number one hits from Country, Soul, Dance, Jazz, Motown, Soundtracks, hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s and even more individual artists and groups, from Hank Williams Sr. to Lionel Ritcie and Elton John and many more.

This is simply a way to say thanks to all the readers here as Cup of Joe Powell closes in on 100,000 hits -- some free hits for you too!

George W. here -- I've been a longtime reader, must have that cuppa Joe.

And I'd like that Marvin Gaye collection. He's the best soul singer ever. I still own many of his albums and would make a happy home for this collection!!

Hey, Joe

snikta here. I would love the James Brown disc. You know how difficult it is to buy any music that isn't either A)country, or B)top forty here in M'town. Unless you go to CD Swap, where everything is scratched. I need that CD. My email is: snikta.tn@hotmail.com

Keep blogging!

I would like to have the Supremes #1 hits. It takes me back to when I was living in the Brewster Projects. Hearing the girls( you know, Diana, Flo, & Mary,) singing on the curb...

I would cherish it always!!

carpenterjd3000@Yahoo.com is the email.

Well, geeze, I was going to put my bid in for the Supremes #1 because I find myself singing a lot of those songs to Tenacious G. I never really thought of myself as a big fan of The Supremes. But their stuff really seems to get that baby bouncing when I need her to bounce, and sleep when I need her to sleep.

The problem is, I only know a few bars from each song. I sing "Baby love, my baby love...baby love, my baby love..." over and over because I don't know what comes next. And The Theme from Mahogony is the perfect lullabuy! 'Cept I get stuck after one line...

"Do you know where you're going to..." I mean, I feel like there's got to be some great advice there if I only knew the next line.

But, I really really love Mr. Swann and I know he would probably dance around and sing those songs with fierce diva attitude. That makes me smile. So, as much as I would like the disc, I want to vote that you give it to Swanny.

60's & 70's, huh?

I'll sign up for that.

I was going to plead a case for the James Brown CD, because Papa needs a Brand New Bag when he's got a Cold Sweat from being on the scene like a Sex Machine getting off on the Good Foot and Making it Funky while Living in America.

But since I already have nearly every thing ever recorded by the Hardest Working Godfather of Soul in Show Business and the Flames and the JBs and Maceo and Fred et. al., I will defer to Snikta who was first in line.

Oh, and I meant to say "while Living in America in a Man's World".

all this politeness and deferring to others ... ya'll will make me blush.

and R. Neal, you sure make a compelling request despite deferring to Snikta ...

I think I should get the Marvin Gaye CD because if George W. doesn't get it, maybe he'll throw a little tantrum and make his Daddy angry and his Daddy will kill him like Marvin's did.

Plus, I love to sign while driving, and I need something to compete with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road for favorite sing along CD.
